The bilingual film Manikanta, directed by Selva with Arjun, Jyothika and Malavika in the lead is ready for release. B.V. Krishna of M.M. Movies says, 'Arjun has a good name as an action hero, both in Tamil and Telugu. Selva brought out Manikanta on the lines of Arjun's earlier films Gentleman and Oke Okkadu. We all know that the fights in Arjun's films are shot without dupes and are a highlight; so also for this film. The action scenes choreographed by Jaguar Thangam would definitely attract the mass audiences. Arjun plays a dual role in this film; one of the character plays an emotional role.
The film will have revenge and retaliation with temple problems and politics in its background plot. But the film also has elements like love and sentiment.' Asish Vidyarthi, Pasupati, Satyaprakash, Anapurna, Nalini and Vadivelu are in the cast. G.R. Venkatesh presents the film; music is by Deva, lyrics are by Bhuvanachandra and Vanamali, dialogues are by Rajasekhar Reddy, editing is by Madhu.
