Today is the day that Chiranjeevi will unveil his party name, logo and ideals. The venue was being prepared for the mega event for past one and half months. In true Tollywood style, Chiranjeevi’s fans were taken to the venue by twenty special trains, 4,000 buses and over 20,000 vans. Over 5 lakh people from across the state have gathered for Chiranjeevi’s first public meeting in Tirupati on Tuesday.
Chiranjeevi’s mega journey started this morning when he left for Tirupati by flight from Hyderabad accompanied by wife Surekha, son Ram Charan Tej, Allu Arjun and other close associates. After arriving at Renigunta airport, Chiranjeevi and his family proceeded to offer prayers at Lord Venkateswara, Tirumala. Thereafter, he went on to Lord Japali Anjaneyaswami, 5 km from Tirumala towards Papanasanam to do special pujas before going down to Tirupati to give his speech in the evening which was scheduled between 4pm and 7pm.
Amid chaos, the organisers had a tough time controlling the crowds that had gathered there and even mid morning over 2.5 lakh people had gathered at the venue. There was a minor stampede late in the afternoon, when Chiranjeevi’s family arrived. An elderly woman and a small girl were reportedly injured. Additional police forces from Madanapalli and Chittoor were despatched to Avilala, the venue where Chiranjeevi will make his historical speech.
At 5:30pm Chiranjeevi climbed the dais wearing a white shirt and black trousers, looking fresh and cool, to make his maiden political speech. He announced his party as Praja Rajyam, amidst loud cheers. As he has always maintained, Chiranjeevi started his speech by saying that the motto of his party is social justice by bringing about a balance in society. He went on to reminisce about his childhood and early career when he did not have as much as he did now.
Agriculture, Education and Heath sector are the party’s main concerns said Chiranjeevi. In a state that is sharply divided on the lines of the haves and have-nots, the stark lack of facilities and advantages that the poor suffer from is being highlighted in Chiranjeevi’s ambitious speech.
The flag hoisting, which was set for 6pm will now probably happened after sunset.
