Sindhu Tolani is very happy with the response that Bathukamma has elicited throughout Telengana region. Though the film was slow to pick up at the box-office, word of mouth publicity has helped draw crowds to theatres.
Directed by debutant Prabhakar, the film’s main subject is the rustic traditions of Telengana, especially Bathukamma, a popular festival of the region. The subject is avant-garde, exposing the landlords’ exploitation and the tribulations of the landless poor and agricultural labourers.
Trade information states that Bathukamma is doing quite well and the producers are resting easy now. “The film Aithe was my entry into Telugu film industry and Telugu audiences always welcomed me. I am sure this film will bring me more offers," gushed Sindhu.
