Finally, the much-awaited Raksha releases today. The film depicts the conflict between science and superstitions that prevail even among the most forward-thinking members of society. Many who see the movie may be wondering about the filmmakers’ stand on this controversial topic.
When Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) was Hyderabad recently to promote the movie from his production house (he is only presenting the movie, not directing it), he stated firmly, “I am not a messiah or a social reformer to preach or try to change people. I am here only to entertain people.”
Yandamoori Veerendranath’s novel ‘Thulasidalam’ was the inspiration for Raksha. The maverick director-producer praised Vamsi Krishna, the director of Raksha, for delivering a better product than Phoonk, the Hindi version of Raksha.
RGV is working on his next Bollywood project that is inspired by the ever-increasing influence of the national media. He will also be working on a Telugu movie based on the factional infighting in Rayalaseema, while talks are going on with Junior NTR for yet another project.
