The exhibitors in Tamil Nadu are a worried lot. They bought the rights for the Tamil version of Kathanayakudu, titled Kuselan, for exorbitant rates. But the Rajinikanth-starrer has not raked in the moolah as expected. Though critically-acclaimed, Rajni fans expected more screen time for their idol, much more than the 45 minutes of his role.
Now insiders say that the losses are aproximately Rs. 40 crores and the distributors are now urging Rajinikanth to intervene and help them out of the financial mess.
Rajni is now reportedly mulling making a quickie to compensate for Kathanayakudu. Rajni's big-budget film Robot with Shankar will take about two years to complete; his fans and distributors cannot wait that long. Hence he may act in a typical action entertainer, the type that Rajni’s fans expect from him. Murugadoss will direct this film.
