Acharya Nagarjuna University Department of Journalism and Mass Communication will hold a three-day national seminar on ‘media trends and trial by media’ from March 15 in Nagarjunanagar campus, the university college principal and department coordinator Dr. G.N. Brahmanandam said in a press release. Prominent journalists and academicians from all over the country will participate in the seminar and present papers on various aspects.
Assistant coordinator G. Chenna Reddy said that after the inaugural session on Sunday, two sessions on ‘free speech vs. fair trial’ and ‘sensationalism in the days of freedom of expression’ will be held. Journalists and university professors from Orissa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh have already confirmed their participation, he added.
The second day of the seminar is dedicated to ‘Covering 26/11, Mumbai Terror Attacks’, ‘Anything for Circulation Figures from ABC’ and 'Electronic media vying for TAM ratings'. On the final day, journalists will discuss 'Covering Crime News on TV channels' and 'Need for Regulation'. During the valedictory session, a discussion on 'Professionalism in Print Media' will be held.
