Varudu, starring Mahesh Babu and directed by Trivikram Srinivas, will start shooting in July. It is reportedly based on the Hindi film Welcome. Dialogue king Mohan Babu is said to have a prominent role in the film. The heroine is yet to be finalized. The model who worked in the ad for Thums Up with Mahesh Babu was considered but a final decision has not yet been taken.
Akshay Kumar played the lead role and Anil Kumar, Nana Patekar and Feroze Khan were among the star cast in the original.
