Protesting against mega star-turned-politician Chiranjeevi’s reported decision to oppose the Central Government’s proposed move to form a separate Telangana state, activists of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and other groups forcibly stopped the screening of Magadheera and Arya 2, featuring Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Teja and his relative Allu Arjun respectively.
The protestors have also decided not to allow screening of films featuring Chiranjeevi's actor brothers Pawan Kalyan and Naga Babu. Anticipating protests from pro-Telangana groups, the managements of some theatres in Telangana districts like Warangal and Nizamabad already stopped the screening of their films.
In Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar and other districts, TRS workers tore down the posters and damaged hoardings of the movies. The protestors at Metpally, Karimnagar district, set afire the film reels at one theatre and plegdged not to allow screening of any film featuring Chiranjeevi, his son or family members.
Chiranjeevi plans to go on a fast today at Tirupathi to protest against the splitting of Andhra Pradesh. But his Praja Rajyam Party is already heading for a split with some members supporting the proposed state split and others opposing it.
