Shekar Kammula's yet-to-be-released Daggubati Rana starrer Leader and last year’s Bumper Offer have landed in legal trouble after four writers have lodged complaints alleging that the scripts are theirs!
Writer Shiva, who filed a case against Sekhar Kammula, claims that the basic premise and storyline of Leader is his, while the other three (Suryadevara, Srinivas Reddy and Amma Rajashekar) say that the script of Bumper Offer, which was released last September, is theirs.
Srinivas Reddy alleges that he narrated the plot line of Bumper Offer to Amma Rajashekar, who liked it but sold it to producer Puri Jagannadh without the writer’s knowledge. Srinivas Reddy is now fasting at Writers' Association office, seeking justice. So the association has now forwarded the case to the Film Federation.
Writer Shiva first complained against Sekhar Kammula with the Writers' Association. When Sekhar Kammula vehemently denied the allegations, he moved to the court. Leader will grace screens on February 11.
