Directed by Indraganti Mohana Krishna, Ashta Chemma, starring Nani, Swati, Srinivas Avasarala, Bhargavi, Thanikella Bharani and Jhansi, made such an impact on Sekhar Kammula that he decided to distribute the film overseas under Touring Talkies’ distribution banner.
Rammohan, who produced the flick under Art Beat Capital Productions banner, invited Sekhar Kammula to watch the film and give his valued opinion. And after the lights came on in the preview theatre, Sekhar offered to distribute the film in the USA, much to the producer’s delight.
About his decision to distribute Ashta Chemma abroad, Sekhar Kammula said, “The film’s story and narration is pretty novel, with plenty of comedy. In fact, it is a new idea that Mohana Krishna has developed. All the characters have been sketched out very well and it is all natural. Kalyani Mallik music is good too.”
Suresh Babu, the film’s presenter, said that the Censor certificate has been issued and the film would be released on September 5th. Sirivennela’s lyrics have been set to Kalyani Mallik’s musical compositions.
“Ashta Chemma, the traditional board game, is similar to Ludo. You have to come up with your own moves to overtake the opponent. This film runs on the same lines with each character trying to outdo the other. The outcome has to be seen on the screen,” said the film’s director Mohana Krishna.
Swati, the most well-known of the cast, has gotten herself a critically-acclaimed Tamil debut with Subramaniyapuram, where she plays a traditional small-town girl.
