Chiranjeevi was at the famous temple town of Kancheepuram on August 22nd, performing a homam seeking success in his embryonic political career. The day after that, he hosted a tea party for the who’s who of Tollywood at the Rama Naidu studios at Jubilee Hills on Saturday. Eminent film personalities like, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Tarun, Brahamanandam, producer D Rama Naidu, Raghavendra Rao and Tammareddy Bharadwaja amongst others had come to wish Chiranjeevi on his political journey.
The party was the scene of quite a few interesting incidents, the most notable being that actor Mohan Babu attended the tea party. Mohan Babu and Chiranjeevi, who publicly aired the grievances against each other a while ago, hugged and greeted each other, like old friends. "He invited me with love and I came," Mohan Babu said in reply to media queries.
Among the most notably absent were the entire Nandamuri clan, including Superstar Balakrishna, Junior NTR and Kalyan Ram. The Nandamuri clan has thrown in their lot with the Telugu Desam Party led by party president Chandrababu Naidu. The TDP hopes to counter Chiranjeevi’s magnetism at the polls with the charisma of Balakrishna, Kalyan Ram et al.
Chiranjeevi in his speech said that he would ensure that the film fraternity would get the respect due to it, even when he entered politics. He also explained why he was getting into politics.
