Chiranjeevi ‘s latest Thums Up campaign has run into trouble with the CPI who condemned the propaganda by the Megastar that Thums Up and Coca-Cola are perfectly safe to drink and don’t harm the health. “Please stop from being a part of this MNC’s false propaganda,” CPI’s state secretary K. Narayana urged Chiranjeevi. An NGO, Jana Viznana Vedika (JVV) also criticised Chiranjeevi for his ad campaign. “It is proven in the laboratories that Colas contain unacceptably high levels of pesticide residues,” said JVV’s President A. Ramachandraiah. He asked Chiranjeevi not to mislead his fans and others who have immense faith in him. A similar problem arose when Mammooty was signed for the Coca-Cola campaign in Kerala. Fearing criticism he backed out.
