Though it was announced at the triple platinum disc function of Parugu that there would be a sequel to the megahit of 2004, Arya, it is only recently that Arya-2 has been launched. While Arya brought Allu Arjun to the attention of Telugu youths, it remains to be seen whether the sequel will outstrip the original’s box-office performance.
Though Sukumar and Allu Arjun were supposed to come together for Jagadam after the success of Arya, it didn't materialize. This time around it will not be Dil Raju, the original Arya producer, but Aditya Babu who will produce the sequel under Aditya Arts banner with Bhogavalli Prasad presenting it.
Arya, Geeta and Ajay, the original characters, will appear again in the sequel with Allu Arjun as the hero. But this time around, the heroine will be Kajal; the role played by Siva Balaji will be enacted by Navdeep.
The muhurat was on 08-008-08, that very special date that is hard to forget. The ceremony was held at the Vinayak temple inside Rama Naidu studios. Ram Charan Teja, Allu Aravind, Dil Raju, K.L. Narayana were all present to wish everyone involved in the project all the best. It was a quiet event with no media persons invited.
