Another film on police, Raghavan is the dubbed version of the Tamil hit film Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu.

Director G.V. Menon is known for making films on cops. He has earlier made a film titled Gharshana in Telugu. This is one more from his stable on police.

The film is about two police officers, Raghavan (Kamal Haasan) and Anand Raj (Prakash Raj). The two are good friends.

Raghavan is married to Meenakshi (Kamalini) but some goons kill her. The two cops manage to finish the goons.

Meanwhile, Anand Raj's daughter also goes missing. It is revealed that she has been murdered. Anand Raj is shocked over the incident, leaves everything and goes to the US with his wife. Then comes the news that they both have been killed in the US. The police send Raghavan to investigate. Raghavan goes to New York and ends up following in a trail of murders. He also meets Aradhana (Jyothika) in New York. Raghavan comes to know that the murders have being committed by two psychopath medical students. He takes them on but is grievously injured. The two criminals think that Raghavan is dead and they come back to India.

Raghavan also follows them back to India and finally eliminates them. He then is united with Aradhana.

The film is very neatly executed and the editing and camera work is very impressive. Kamal as usual excels in his role. Prakash Raj and Kamalini have very brief roles. Cameraman Ravi Varman has captured the beauty of New York City in a delightful way.

The film is sleek but in the second half it drags. On the whole, it is okay. The film is an action-based detective thriller.
