It is Ileana's glamour and Siddhartha's performance all the way for Aata. Despite a weak story, M.S. Raju's screenplay, novel treatment of the subject by director V.N. Aditya, Devisri Prasad's music coupled with the lead pair's performance have all made the film a big hit. Besides all this, Chota K. Naidu's expertise in cinematography in capturing the beauty and glamour of the heroine helped the film attract the youth. M.S. Raju, who faced failure with Pournami, has bounced back with a hit in Aata.

Srikrishna (Siddhartha) accidentally meets Satya (Ileana) and loses his heart to her. Learning that some goons and police are after her, he comes to know from Satya that Home Minister's (Jayaprakash Reddy) son Vicky (Munna) has raped and murdered a girl against whom Satya leads a students' stir. But Vicky escapes from the jaws of the law with his father's political influence. To take revenge, Vicky decides to marry Satya. After knowing all this, Sri agrees to save her and drops her in Vicky's house. Sri befriends Vicky and challenges him to win Satya's love. The story takes many twists and turns. Satya plays a trick with the help of Sastry (Brahmanandam) misleading Vicky into believing that some bad omen would befall Vicky's mother (Anuradha) if Vicky marries her. Sastry advises Vicky to allow Satya to marry some other person first and then take her hand in a second marriage. But Vicky comes to know that Sri is playing a game. In the climax, Sri escapes with Satya. When Vicky and his men chase them, Sri teaches them a fitting lesson. He tells Vicky that the students, who remained mute witnesses to the rape and murder, were ready to send  SMSs to the judge that Vicky is the culprit. The police arrest Vicky and the film ends with the union of Sri and Satya.

Siddhartha has given an extraordinary performance. The director etched his youthful role with verve and vigour. His comedy timing, ease in dances, performance, body language are good to watch. While the escape drama and love scenes dominate the first half, the second half is devoted to show Ileana's glamour. Cinematographer Chota K. Naidu made good use of his camera to display the glamour of Ileana. Music by Devisri Prasad is another highlight and the choreography of all the songs is enthralling. Two of the songs 'Ninnu choostunte.' and 'Muddulata..' are quite romantic. Brahmanandam gives superb comedy which is healthy, sans any vulgarity. Technically also, the film is worth watching as the director utilised the Digital Intermediate technology in songs.
