Okka Magaadu was one of the most-anticipated films in recent times. But Y.V.S. Choudhary has made the film like a remake of Bharateyudu and Sardar Paaparayudu. It hence fails to make the desired impact.
Raghupati Raghava Rajaram aka Okka Magaadu aka OM (Balakrishna) is a doctor in a small village. He takes up arms after the cruel Britishers kill hisbrothers and sisters. His wife Simran lives in Venkatapuram along with her grandson Veera Venkata Satyanarayana aka Satyam Babu (Balakrishna). Satyam is a kind-hearted soul and is seen helping people in distress. He gives shelter to a runaway couple; the boy is the son of a minister. The girl comes from a poor family and hence the minister is against the marriage. Sathyam crosses swords with the minister (Ashutosh Rana).
On the other hand, OM is angry at the corruption and other evils in the society. He attacks the culprits. The CBI is after him as they think that he is murdering them. Sathyam learns that OM is none other than his own grandfather. OM finally catches all the culprits in an aeroplane, as they are about to flee from the country. He blows up the plane by flying it into a mountain. As the indestructible hero, he survives and come out unscathed.
Balakrishna is his usual self. His role of an old man reminds us of Kamal Haasan in Bharteeyudu. Balakrishna is good in fights and dances. Anushka and Priyanka Kothari are only used as glamour objects. They do not have much of a role. Simran is also average. The villain is not good. Music is also average except for a couple of songs.
The film is a rehash of some old films and the familiar formula fails to enthuse the audience. The fate of the film now hinges on the shoulders of the audience in B and C centres.
