A clean and entertaining love story

True to its name, Veduka is a celebration of love and life. The director has succeeded in making the film interesting with the right mix of drama and emotion. The film is about love, not just between the hero and heroine, but also showcases love among all family members.

Harini (Poonam Bajwa) is a daring and dashing 21st century modern girl. She is a tomboy who actually turns the tables on boys. She plays pranks all the time, has a very casual attitude towards life and stays with her grandfather played by Vishwanath and mother, played by Sudha.

On the other hand, Srikar (Raja) is a down-to-earth man with a social bent of mind. He sets up a charitable institution for destitute women and runs it with the help of his friends. The hero and his friends stay as tenants in the house of Vishwanath. Harini, as usual, plays her tricks on them. She thinks that Srikar and his friends are doing all this only to impress people. However, all her tricks come to nought as she realizes that Srikar is really a genuine man with a heart of gold. They become good friends. They both slowly fall in love but cannot express this to each another.

As in all films, a third person enters the scene. She is Amala (Anu Mehta), sister-in-law of Srikar. She is there to take part in a tennis tournament. Harini gets jealous of her as she moves very closely with Srikar. She then learns that there is nothing between them and they were simply close from childhood as they had been brought up together.

The family members of Harini learn about the love between Harini and Srikar and after a little drama, the hero and the heroine are united.

The clean and neat story is a definite plus. All the actors have given a good performance. The director gets the plot across in a simple yet effective way. The human emotions are brought out excellently. The photography and songs add weight to the film.

The slow and leisurely pace of the film makes you wonder if you have spent the whole day in the theatre watching the film. The director also fails to extract comedy despite boasting of an impressive lineup of comedians like Dharmavarapu, Shakunthala, Srinivas Reddy, M.S. Narayana, Jeeva and others.

The film is a neat family entertainer with no trace of violence. It can be watched by the entire family.
